Perry
Our family member and guardian, Perry Ford, was able to pass on peacefully with family surrounding him at home after a year of living with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) diagnosis. He was a beautiful 6 years old Great Pyrenees. Despite his difficult diagnosis, we were able to help him enjoy so much more time together working with Madrona Veterinary services. Claire McPhee DVM, assisted us in minimizing his pain and maximizing his quality of life, months before it was time to say our final goodbye as a family. She encouraged us to develop ‘Perry’s bucket list’ consisting of his favorite things to do in the time he had remaining, and we accomplished all of them creating meaningful memories that we can laugh and cry about together as a family even now.
Favorite Perry Activities/bucket list:
-drive to marine park beach
-Fairhaven park, field and meditation area
-beach time fishing in the water for hours
-visiting friends at Hyline Hotel for Dogs and Grandma’s house
-Belly rubs!!!!
-Paws in Fairhaven
-Lake Padden swim time
-cheeseburger and fries
-chicken livers
-ice/snow experience
-enjoying bonding times with you watching the beautiful sunsets together
The day came when it was clear he needed to be out of the suffering from his disease, we arranged to all be at home, and with the knowledge that he was as comfortable as possible at home with his pack. We spoke to him these words,
“Perry, it’s OK to go now and we wish our dearest sweet boy to be free from the pain and suffering of this disease. Please know that we’re right there with you on this journey, and you are always carried along within each of us in this life and beyond….we will be reunited together after this life, too, and be able to remember each other and run free playing and just being together again. We are so grateful and feel blessed for the wonderful love you have brought just by being able to have you in our family for the 6 and a half years we’ve had together 😅❤️😊🙏💕🥰😘☺️.
You have captured all of our hearts with your infectious personality. You are our best friend, who has helped us through both the lows and celebrate the highs of life together. We would not be who we are today without you and we hope that you understand you are truly loved by your family and live on in our hearts forever. “
Thank you for a wonderful life and beautiful memories💕🐾🐶
